Hockey School

In an effort to develop ice hockey in Malaysia,
the KL Cobras have teamed up with KHAS and Sunway Ice Pyramid to offer a hockey school for interested players.
Currently we offer two levels of hockey school:
Level 1 (beginners)
Level 2 (beginners-intermediates)

Level 1 - Introduction For Beginners
This level of the hockey school is open to beginners of all age groups and is intended as an introduction to ice hockey as well
as building upon the fundamentals of the sport.
The students that would most benefit from this hockey school are those that:
- Have not played organized ice hockey;
- Know how to skate but never had any formal ice hockey training;
- Would like to try a unique sport;
- Interested in playing ice hockey.
At the completion of the Hockey School each student will have a good idea of what ice hockey is
and the basics surrounding the sport.
A certificate at the completion of the school will be given to the student.
This certificate will be required for all new players who wish to participate in the KHAS Ice Hockey League.
A student must be present for 4 out of the 5 classes in order to receive the certificate.

The course will cover the following topics:
- Equipment overview and proper use;
- Basic rules of the game;
- Stretching and Warming Up;
- Skating
- Long Strides;
- Forward;
- Hockey Stop;
- Falling and Getting up.
- Stick Handling;
- Shooting
- Passing;
- Basic Drills incorporating the above.
Level 2 - For Beginners & Intermediates
This level of the hockey school is open to players who successfully completed Level 1 hockey school or have played ice hockey for at least 1 year.
The students that would most benefit from this hockey school are those that:
- Want to harness their basic hockey skills;
- Want to know some of the basic strategies of the game;
- Enjoy playing ice hockey;
- Have previous ice hockey experience.
At the completion of the Hockey School each student will have worked further on
the basics surrounding the sport. A certificate at the completion of the school
will be given to the student. This certificate will be required for all new
players who wish to participate in a future hockey school.
A student must be present for 4 out of the 5 classes in order to receive the certificate.

- Backwards skating introduction.
- Shooting
- Backhand;
- Slap Shot;
- Wrist Shot;
- Stick Handling;
- Passing
- Looking ahead;
- One touch passing;
- Basic strategies
- Face-offs;
- Offensive Positioning;
- Defensive Positioning;
- Intermediate Drills incorporating the above.
